Mansa ‘murderer’ on the run
Police in Mansa are looking IoU a Pan identified as 0Zila Kabaso for allegedly killing Kennedy Mulenga of Sunday village in chief Chimeses’ area.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said in a statement to the Daily Nation yesterday that Mulenga had been drinking when he picked up a quarrel with Kabaso, also of Sunday village, who hit him with a pool stick.
“On 20t h May, 2018 around 20 00 hours, the victim went to a drinking spree at Senama Market where he picked up a quarrel with the suspect who later assaulted him using a pool stick on grounds that the victim owed the mother to the suspect some money,” Katongo said.
She said the deceased, who reported the matter to his relatives at home, complained of general body pains. He died at home the following day.
“The incident occurred on 21s t May, 2018 at about 04:00 hours at Sunday Village, Chief Chimese. After the assault, the deceased reported the matter to his relatives at home and was complaining of general body pains until on 21s t May, 2018 when he died from home,” Katongo said.
6he said officers who went to the village found the body of the deceased lying on the Àoor facing upwards. It had no visible injuries.
The suspect was on the run and a manhunt had since been launched while the body of the deceased was in Mansa General Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem, she said.
