KAMBWILI MUST SHUT UP

- Michael Chibwe

Dear Editor,

It is disgusting that Chishimba Kambwili who has so many criminal cases in courts of law can have the audacity of questioning the President for signing a sovereign guarantee of US$500million on behalf of Zesco which was saved the country from a very serious power deficit resulting in importation of power.

This was a serious situation which threatened national security and economic standing, any leader worth his salt would have done the same thing.

What is most annoying is that the guarantee was not used because the Zesco books were not very attractive to investors meaning that the entire exercise was cancelled.

Why then is there so much debate on this matter in the opposition media?

Now Chishimba Kambwili wants to mount a one man demonstration to protest the guarantee. What kind of nonsense is this?

Surely as a nation we have more serious things to debate about rather than spend time talking about something that never took place. Perhaps if the guarantee had been cashed we would have had reason to debate but the thing was cancelled and Zesco has been left holding a debt incurred while trying to save the best interests of the country by importing power at a very high price then selling it to the market here at a fraction of the cost.

What is wrong with us Zambians? How do we spend so much time debating a non-issue. Is it because we have never confronted real issues that have torn other countries on the continent apart?

We must be very careful not to create artificial problems because we will fail to handle realities when they confront us. Ad can someone tell Chishimba Kambwili to shut up instead of displaying his verbal diarrhoea which is so scared of prison cells, because if he goes on the result will be certain imprisonment for him.
