Muchinga chiefs pledge to support State

CHIEFS in Muchinga Province have pledged to champion government’s developmen­t agenda for the benefit of their subjects.

“We have come to reaffirm our commitment to support and work with government and President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to foster developmen­t in Isoka district and Muchinga Province in general,” said Senior Chief Katyetye.

Senior Chief Katyetye said the people in the province were lacking quality roads, schools and health facilities, among other amenities. “As you are aware Muchinga is the youngest Province in Zambia. So the province is lacking a good number of amenities. This is why we as chiefs believe we should actively involve ourselves in the developmen­t agenda government is implementi­ng in the region,” said Senior Chief Katyetye.

And Sub-chief Mwenetambo stated that the subjects were also lacking access to clean and safe drinking water.

He said in some cases, people were forced to share the available limited water with domestic animals.

“I wish to echo Senior Chief Katyetye’s sentiment. We as traditiona­l leaders in the region are eager to see massive economic developmen­t. We are ready to support government’s endeavors to deliver developmen­t not only in Muchinga but also in other parts of Zambia,” said Sub-chief Mwenetambo.
