N/West PF chief dares union
I STAND to condemn the statement by the Fire fighters Union with regards to the employment of 35 fire fighters at Kalumbila council, North Western Province Patriotic Front (PF) Provincial Chairman, Jackson Kungo has charged.
In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr Kungo wondered why the Local Government Service commission could employ Grade 12 certificate holders from Lusaka instead of considering the local people.
Mr Kungo was reacting to a statement by Fire fighters Association General Secretary, Clement Mulenga in which he defended the recruitment of the firefighters from Lusaka.
“I stand to condemn the statement by the Fire fighters Union with regards to the employment of the 35 fire fighters at Kalumbila council. They are being hypocritical because no person can allow such a situation," Mr Kungo said.
He wondered why the General Secretary of the Fire Fighters Association could come to the defence of the recruited fire fighters as though they possessed specialized skills before their employment.
"My stance remains the same, there is no way grade twelve school certificate holders could be employed from Lusaka to come and work from here while we also have people with the same certificates. That we will not allow," he said.
He has since warned the union leader to avoid being used by people whose agenda was to make the PF Government unpopular through corruption.
Recently, Mr Kungo expressed his displeasure with the recruitment of over 35 fire fighters who are all grade 12 certificate holders without regard to local people in the province.
