Women cooperatives team up
OVER 20 women cooperative societies in Kalomo and Zimba districts of Southern province have teamed up to form a multi-purpose company with a start-up capital of K20,000.
The multi-purpose firm is aimed at addressing the challenges the women folk face in their communities.
The launch of the Kalomo, Zimba Women Association (KAZIWA) multipurpose company was witnessed by several stakeholders yesterday in Mboole area of chief Sipatunyana of Kalomo, among them, District commissioner, Cosmas Chiiba .
And KAZIWA multipurpose company chairperson, Anick Lubinda has called on wellwishers to support their noble cause either materially or financially if the firm was to achieve its goal.
And in-coming house of chiefs’ vice chairperson, Chieftainess Mwenda has urged women to be in the fore-front to fight for equality if they were to realise their full potential in society.
“This is an opportunity to eliminate the problems we women are facing in communities, I ‘am extremely happy, this is the first time to witness such a gesture by rural women coming up with such a motive, I urged you to develop and see to it that women are empowered in society,” chieftainess Mwenda, said.
And Southern province youth and sports officer, Vincent Sitali has called on young people in the region to take youth skills training seriously if they were to benefit from the youth empowerment fund.
