Kitwe College of Education ‘boils’

CONFUSION is brewing at Kitwe College of Education (KCE) where Principal Andrew Mutobo is allegedly resisting deployment to the Ministry of Education Headquarte­rs as Assistant Director. The developmen­t has infuriated lecturers who are demanding that he should leave for his new position to forestall divisions at the institutio­n. When contacted for a comment, Mr Mutobo dismissed the allegation­s and referred all queries to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education. Mr Mutobo however added that most of the lecturers liked him and that he was not resisting the transfer. He said he was merely following *overnPent Sosition that officers should first serve for five \ears before they could be transferre­d. But irate lecturers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Daily Nation that Mr Mutobo should graciously leave KCE because there institutio­n had been dogged by divisions and other problems. “He has created a cartel of his henchmen. He has created some divisions at this institutio­n. So we don·t Zant hiP. +e should leave us. “Why is he resisting the transfer? When he was being transferre­d from Solwezi to Kasama and from Kasama to Kitwe, he was not resisting. Why is he resisting now that he has been transferre­d to Lusaka? One lecturer said. Other lecturers said Mr Mutobo had failed to run the institutio­n as evidenced by the dirty because there was no water. Mr Mutobo on the other hand said it was not true that the lecturers do not like him, insisting that only a few of them were against him. “It is also not true that my lecturers do not like me.
