Stop dreaming, Kamba tells Fube

- By NATION REPORTER

IKELVIN BWALYA Fube must stop dreaming about challenging President Edgar Lungu at the forth coming party conference because he is of “no fixed abode” in PF and does not qualify to be a delegate, Kennedy Kamba has said. Commenting on Mr Fube’s declaration to challenge President Lungu at the 2020 party conference, Mr Kamba, who is vying for the Lusaka Province PF chairmanship, said the party held its constitution in high esteem and would not allow those playing kangaroo politics to create unnecessary confusion. He said while it was the right of every Zambian to aspire to national leadership, there was a laid down procedure that must be followed at party level and that Mr Fube had jumped the rubicon in his desire for power as he was treading on dangerous grounds. He wondered how Mr Fube intended to attend the conference and challenge for the presidency when he had never been elected to any position in the party. “For him to come out and say he is going to challenge President Lungu at the 2020 conference is surprising because he does not even qualify to be a delegate. The people who are eligible to go to the national conference are the members of the central committee, provincial committees, two officials from each district, and three officials from each constituency. Others are all PF MPs, and councillors, but where does he come in? “Even if members of the central committee will be subjected to elections at the conference, again, he does not qualify to stand because he is not in any party structure. Those kangaroo politics he is playing will not take him anywhere. The divisions he wants to bring in the party won’t succeed because we are intact and we have already settled for the presidential candidate,” Mr Kamba said.
