Let’s emulate Sata says lungu

- By MUKOSELA KASALWE

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has encouraged citizens to emulate the life and legacy of late President Micheal Sata who loved everyone irrespective of tribe or creed. President Lungu said the late Micheal Sata loved and welcomed everyone irrespective of tribe or colour. The Head of State said this in Lusaka yesterday, when he led the late the Sata family and thousands of people at St. Ignatius Catholic Church during the late president’s memorial service. Mr Lungu who gave his remarks without a written speech said some people pretended to be disciples of Mr. Sata but that what they did or say fail short of the late President’s calibre. He said since the formation of Government in 2011 the message of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) was about love. Mr Lungu reiterated that he had not departed from the virtues which Mr Sata stood for. He recalled that President Sata was concerned with the poverty levels in Western and Luapula Provinces and other parts of Zambia. ‘‘I personally feel greatly humbled to fill the shoes of the late President Micheal Sata and let us remember all the positive things he did for us. There are those who pretend to be disciples of Mr. Sata but what they say and do fails way below par,’’ he said. Later, President Lungu led the Sata family and others in laying wreaths at the memorial park where President Sata and other late Heads of State are buried. Mr Sata son Mulenga who is former State House, deputy minister said it was unfair to compare the leadership style of Mr Lungu and Mr Sata as the two were unique. Mulenga said the family was more united and was following the vision of Mr Sata which entailed hard work.
