Mutembo tar­gets Ng­wira for con­tempt

FOR­MER Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion (DPP) Mutembo Nchito wants the Con­sti­tu­tional Court to al­low him com­mence con­tempt of court pro­ceed­ings against a Lusaka res­i­dent Chan­oda Ng­wira for al­legedly threat­ing two Supreme Court judges who have tes­ti­fied in his (Nchito) case.

The Con­sti­tu­tional Court will how­ever, hear Mr Nchito’s no­tice of mo­tion for an or­der of com­mit­tal on Novem­ber 8. In this mat­ter, the al­leged con­tem­nor, Mr Ng­wira wrote let­ters to Jus­tice Supreme Court Jus­tice Mumba Malila and Jus­tice Al­bert Wood threat­en­ing them with crim­i­nal ac­tion for giv­ing wit­ness state­ments in a mat­ter where Mr Nchito pe­ti­tioned the Con­sti­tu­tional Court, chal­leng­ing his re­moval from the of­fice of DPP.
