UTH Children’s Hospital applauded

OVER 200 patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions mostly from low middle income backgrounds have been attended to at the University Teaching Hospital’s (UTH) Children’s Hospital at the in the past 18 months. And Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Martin Malama said the children’s hospital was transforming very fast because medical personnel at the institution were contributing tirelessly to ensure primary health care was delivered to Zambians. Dr Malama said this was evidenced by the many milestones that the hospital had continued recording, asthis meant the institution was moving in the right direction. Speaking during the official opening of the hemodialysis unit at the UTH Children’s Hospital, Dr Malama said the opening of hemodialysis unit was a testament to the hard work and commitment of the renal medical team. Dr Malama said for UTH hospitals to achieve their goals availability of human resource was cardinal as well as investing in primary health care, which he added had resulted in the success of the institution. He appealed to medical personnel across the country to continue with their dedication to duty to save many children seeking medical attention. “When a child comes here with renal failure be it acute or chronic something went wrong, therefore UTH Children’s Hospital should ensure that they give adequate care and pay attention to what could be have been the cause,” said Dr Malama.
