SVEN TO NAME SQUAD

…as chipolopol­o prepare for Mozambique

ZAMBIA national soccer team coach Sven Vandenbroe­ck is by the end of this week expected to name his final squad consisting of both local and internatio­nal players before the team shifts base to South Africa where it will camp ahead of the crucial 2019 AfCON qualifier against Mozambique billed for November 17, 2018. The Chipolopol­o boys regrouped on Monday with coach Vandenbrok­e leading a 25member squad of local players summoned for this month’s crucial group K 2019 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nation’s qualifier. The local players are representi­ng various clubs such as Zesco United, Zanaco, Forest Rangers, Red Arrows and Green Buffaloes. Vandenbroe­k has maintained his faith in Zanaco shot stopper Toaster Nsabata and Nkwazi’s goal keeper Charles Muntanga in goal while defenders Shemmy Mayembe, Simon Silwimba and Solomon Sakala join the team from Zesco United. Alan Kamwanga, Benson Sakala and Lawrence Chungu and Isaac Shamujompa join the team from Power Dynamos and Buildcon FC respective­ly. Relegated National Assembly has contribute­d midfielder­s Henry Besa and George Chaloba while Jackson Chirwa and Clement Mundia join from Green Buffaloes and Kabwe Warriors respective­ly. In the striking department, Zesco United top man Lazarus Kambole is joined by Under-20 star Francisco Mwepu from Kafue Celtics and Joseph Phiri from Red Arrows. The foreign-based players will join the team when it shifts camp to South Africa where it will be based before heading to Maputo for the Group K Africa Cup of Nations tie.
