NGO complains to Concourt over opposition leaders insults

- By NATION REPORTER

THE Evangelical Youth Alliance (EYA) has complained to the Constitutional Court over the continued scandalizing of judges, referring to sentiments attributed to All People's Congress (APC) president Nason Musoni and UPND Director of Research and Policy Analysis, Choolwe Beyani. In a letter dated November 7, 2018 and addressed to the Concourt president, EYA executive director Moses Lungu now wants these, plus UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s previous alleged contemptuous statements to be urgently redressed. “I refer your attention to article published by the Mast online on 3rd November, 2018 under the headline: “Criminals using the Concourt to launder illegality, says Msoni” attributed to Nason Msoni and another one published by the Zambian Watchdog titled, “Foolish Judgment from corrupt judiciary” published on 1st November, 2018. “Further reference is also made to the Facebook posting by UPND Director of Research and Policy Analysis, Choolwe Beyani on 1st November, 2018 under the theme, “Legal Rot in Zamunda” in which he states that Her Ladyship Judge “Constitutional Court Judge Anne Sitali is the same Judge who was part of the UPND petition judgment,” reads the letter in part. Rev. Lungu brought to the attention of the Concourt the previous complaint by another private citizen over Mr. Hichilema’s contempt allegations which were subsequently overlooked. “Your ladyship, the continued manner in which the Judges and the Constitutional Court is being scandalized stems from perception created among members of the public that the Court will not act against those who commit contempt against judges and the Court itself and appears to be a calculated build up from the remarks made by the UPND leader, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, who has gone scot-free.
