Dora dares UPND leader: I’ll quit if you bring evidence, or you fail and resign
CHIEF Government spokesperson Dora Siliya has challenged UPND preident Hakainde Hichilema to prove within seven days that ZAFFICO and other national assets have been sold to the Chinese failure to which he must resign. Ms. Siliya said if Mr. Hichilema would be able to prove that ZAFFICO, ZESCO and ZNBC institutions which required Parliament consent to be sold, then she would resign as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services. The minister who was accompanied by Minister of Health, Chitalu Chilufya said this in Lusaka yesterday, at a press briefing that the propaganda by the opposition was meant to incite people to rise against a duly elected Government through lies. Ms. Siliya said orchestrators of such lies who were inciting the public would not stop and that was the reason President Edgar Lungu directed the police to commence criminal proceedings against people behind such schemes. She said she could not ascertain whether or not Mr. Hichilema would be arrested for having had incited people to protest as that was not within her powers but that the law was clear. “I would like to challenge UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to bring evidence within seven days that ZAFFICO and other state institutions such as ZNBC have been sold or resign but if he will be able to prove then I am ready to resign,” she said. Ms. Siliya reaffirmed that no state institution could be sold without the approval of Parliament and that Mr. Hichilema’s insistence could be based on the fact that he had never been a Member of Parliament.
