Kundalila Falls Bridge Construction underway
THE CONSTRUCTION of a bridge at Kundalila Falls has started.
National Heritage Conservation Commission (NHCC) director for East and Central region, Kagosi Mwamulowe said the bridge was being constructed by Ferro Alloy Corporation Limited (FACL) as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. Speaking in an interview in Kabwe recently, Mr Mwamulowe said FACL intends to set up a power generation company at the falls once it was done with the visibility study.
He said once the bridge was constructed, there would be more visitations to the falls as it would be easy to access the site.
“For one to access the Kandalila falls easily, you need to cross the Kaombe River so with the construction of this bridge, there will be more visitations to the falls by both local and foreign tourists,” said Mr Mwamulowe.
He explained that Ferro Alloy limited was doing a visibility study involving measuring the amount water flowing with the intention of generating electricity.
Mr Mwamulowe said the bridge would have been constructed way back before the Central Province Investment Forum and Expose but was delayed because of some logistical issues.
“The bridge was supposed to be done in time for the Central Province expo but was delayed due to logistical challenges, however, the construction was under way,” He said.
