Mr. Mwamba said this during official opening of human rights training workshop organised by PANOS Institute of Southern Africa held at Nindo Lodge in Mkushi.

Mr. Mwamba said traditional and religious leaders should work together in sensitising the people on the importance of respecting human rights.

“As a nation, we are commemorating 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence. It is therefore, incumbent upon all of us to eliminate gender based violence to protect human rights. As traditional and religious leaders, you should defend people’s right’s without fear or favour.” Mr. Mwamba said.

He said that he was happy the traditional and religious leaders were participants because they were key stakeholders when it came to protection of human rights.

Mr. Mwamba further commended PANOS for conducting the training which he said would go a long way in promoting human rights in the district.

And Mkushi Community radio board chairman Frank Chumfwa said the station was an avenue for promoting and protecting human rights in the district.

He said PANOS was the all- weather friend in governance and development.

He also thanked the organisation for bringing on board the traditional and church leadership to share knowledge on human rights.

As a nation, we are commemorating 16 days activism against Gender Based Violence. It is therefore, incumbent upon all of us to eliminate gender based violence to protect human rights.
