Po­lice to pur­sue so­cial me­dia abusers

THE ap­peal by Spe­cial As­sis­tant to the Pres­i­dent for Press and Pub­lic Re­la­tions Amos Chanda to ar­rest peo­ple us­ing so­cial me­dia to re­port false­hoods on Pres­i­dent Edgar Lungu, is a wake-up call for us to strengthen our sys­tem, Po­lice spokesper­son Es­ther Ka­tongo has said.

Ms Ka­tongo said the di­rec­tive was a re­minder to the ser­vice to strengthen its sys­tem and stop law­less­ness in the coun­try.

Ms Ka­tongo said in an in­ter­view yesterday that all those who would be found want­ing would face crim­i­nal charges.

Ms Ka­tongo said the po­lice would be on alert and en­sure that peo­ple re­port­ing false­hoods on the Head of State were ap­pre­hended.

On Tues­day dur­ing a spe­cial in­ter­view on ZNBC, Mr Chanda di­rected the law en­force­ment agen­cies to ar­rest peo­ple us­ing so­cial me­dia to re­port false­hoods about Pres­i­dent Lungu’s health.
