Mr Musonda said at a media briefing yesterday, that so far about 25 percent of the heavy cargo has been transported this year.

He said the operations at the institution were now going on smoothly without any serious challenges.

Mr Musonda said the massive improvement had helped the firm to realise meaningful revenue. Mr Musonda said the revenue base for the institution had now increased by 22 percent this year.

“We have increased the tonnage of the cargo being transported by rail by 25 percent. The improvement has helped us to increase our revenue base by 22 percent this year,” he said.

Mr Musonda said it was high time for the company to show its relevance in the economic growth of the country.

“The statutory instrument has really helped us. From now ownwards there will be a significant contribution to the economic growth of the country,” he said.
