Veep mourns Bush

VICE PRES­I­DENT Inonge Wina has de­scribed for­mer US Pres­i­dent Ge­orge Walker Bush se­nior as a dis­tin­guished self­less states­man who im­mensely con­trib­uted to world peace.

Mrs Wina in her mes­sage of con­do­lences eu­lo­gized Pres­i­dent Bush as a great world leader.

She said the late Bush had a long rich his­tory of pa­tri­o­tism and pub­lic ser­vice.

The Vice Pres­i­dent prayed that God com­forts the be­reaved fam­ily, United Stats cit­i­zens in this dif­fi­cult time.

“On be­half of Pres­i­dent Edgar Lungu, the peo­ple of the repub­lic of Zam­bia and in­deed on my own be­half I wish to con­vey our sin­cere and heart­felt con­do­lences on the demise of the 41st Pres­i­dent of the United States, she added.

Amer­i­can Am­bas­sador to Zam­bia Daniel Foote thanked the Gov­ern­ment for their sym­pa­thy fol­low­ing the demise of the for­mer Pres­i­dent Bush se­nior.

“We re­ally ap­pre­ci­ate the part­ner­ships and greatly ap­pre­ci­ate the Vice Pres­i­dent for tak­ing her time to of­fer her con­do­lences,” Mr Foote said.

The am­bas­sador told Jour­nal­ists shortly af­ter Ms Wina wrote a mes­sage of con­do­lences in the book at the Amer­i­can Em­bassy in Lusaka yesterday that Amer­i­cans were com­forted by the ges­ture of sym­pa­thy shown.
