Ex­pos at­tract more in­vestors

THE just-ended in­vest­ment ex­pos in Lua­pula, Cen­tral and North­ern Prov­ince have at­tracted more than 100 com­pa­nies who are ready to in­vest in var­i­ous sec­tors of the econ­omy.

Lua­pula Prov­ince Minister Nick­son Chi­langwa said about 70 com­pa­nies had shown in­ter­est to in­vest in the prov­ince while 50 were al­ready on the ground fin­ish­ing up pa­per work to start op­er­a­tions..

Mr Chi­langwa added that with the in­com­ing in­vest­ment, Lua­pu­laProvince would con­trib­ute to the gross do­mes­tic prod­uct of the coun­try.

“Lua­pula Prov­ince stands to be one of the prov­inces in the next four years to be a ma­jor con­trib­u­tor to the coun­try’s Gross do­mes­tic prod­uct with its in­no­va­tive ideas that will help boost our coun­try’s mar­ket port­fo­lio,” he said.

And Cen­tral Prov­ince Minister Syd­ney Mushanga said the expo in his prov­ince at­tracted in­vest­ment of about $30 mil­lion from 36 com­pa­nies which in turn were ex­pected to em­ploy more than 5, 000 Zam­bian.

He said some in­vestors were in­ter­ested in the en­ergy sec­tor to in­crease the ca­pac­ity of elec­tric­ity sup­ply and about 720 mega watts would be de­vel­oped in Mumbwa.
