THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party in North-Western Province has adopted Jonathan Kayombo as their candidate in the fourth coming ward by-election in Sewe Mungole ward slated for February 12 , 2019.

In a statement to the Daily Nation, North Western Province PF chairman Jackson Kungo says the ruling party was optimistic that it would grab the seat which was once dominated by the opposition UPND.

"We have upheld what the Ward, Constituency and District committee of Chavuma wanted and for sure the name on the ground is Jonathan Kayombo and as the provincial committee we want to respect what the grassroots want," he stated.

He said the party will campaign based on its manifesto and developmental agenda for the country.

He said the party in the province will neither condone nor tolerate any form of violence or indiscipline before, during and after elections.

"Ours will be an issue based campaigns and that is what we will be talking about to voters," Mr Kungo said.

He appealed to the other applicants who have not been adopted to remain loyal to the party and the President.

“We urge all aspiring candidates to practice the spirit of unity and rally behind Jonathan Kayombo for there can only be one candidate at a time.”he added.

The Sewe Mungole ward fell vacant following the resignation of the former UPND councillor Gerald Chimuli.
