ACC hands over six recovered hammermils

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has recovered six hammer mills that were stolen by former Chisamba Member of Parliament Moses Muteteka and handed them back to Chibombo District Council, the rightful owners.

ACC Deputy Director-General Ms Rosemary Khuzwayo said it remained resolute and committed to ensuring that the fight against corruption in the country yielded results. She said in 2012 the ACC swung into action after it received a report of corruption and abuse of office regarding the purchase of six hammer mills by the former MP and Youth, Sports and Housing Deputy Minister Mr Muteteka.

Speaking at the handover of the hammer mills yesterday in Lusaka Ms Khuzwayo said it was sad when people entrusted to serve Zambians abused and stole from them, a sign of greed and selfishness.

She has therefore, urged those holding public office to uphold intergrity and ethical behaviour because it was an indispensable tool in discharging public duties.

“The ACC will remain resolute and committed to ensure that the fight against corruption yields results that contribute to the good governance and national development,” she said. She warned public officials that the ACC will not tolerate any criminal behaviour but investigate and prosecute anyone found wanting to face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking at the same event Local Government and Housing Minister Vincent Mwale said the Citizen Development Fund would this year undergo an audit to ensure prudent allocation and use. He has therefore called on the ACC to follow-up on CDF disbursed to 131 Constituencies to ensure that funds reached the intended people.
