Kampy­ongo calls for speedy ar­rest of “trig­ger happy” Cop

YOU should en­sure that Con­sta­ble Ed­win Kabasiya who is be­hind the shoot­ing of a fel­low po­lice of­fi­cer, con­sta­ble Len­nox Kapila is brought to book, Home Af­fairs Min­is­ter Stephen Kampy­ongo has urged the po­lice com­mand.

Mr Kampy­ongo ex­pressed sad­ness and de­scribed the death of Con­sta­ble Kapila as un­war­ranted and un­timely.

Mr Kampy­ongo said his Min­istry will not con­done such lev­els of in­dis­ci­pline in the Zam­bia Po­lice Ser­vice adding that of­fi­cers who would ex­hibit signs of such high level of in­dis­ci­pline and crim­i­nal­ity would be dealt with ac­cord­ingly.

Mean­while, In­spec­tor Gen­eral of po­lice Kakoma Kan­ganja has as­sured the na­tion that the po­lice were do­ing ev­ery­thing pos­si­ble to en­sure that the cul­prit be­hind the mur­der was brought to book.

In a speech read on his be­half by Lusaka deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice God­frey Kunda at the burial of con­sta­ble Kapila in Lusaka yes­ter­day , Mr Kan­ganja how­ever de­scribed the late con­sta­ble Kapila as a jovial man and hard work­ing of­fi­cer who dis­charged his du­ties dili­gently .

And widow Matilda Nchena Kapila said her late hus­band has left a huge gap in her life as he was a strength to the fam­ily.

Costable Kapila aged 26 is sur­vived by a wife and two chil­dren the youngest be­ing six months.
