GBV cases to reduce this year - YWCA
THE Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) expects that cases of Gender based violence (GBV) will reduce this year.
YWCA Northern region coordinator Sharon Chisanga said information that had been given to the public on the vice was enough for citizens to understand how dangerous the vice was.
She commended Government and other stakeholders in the country for their dedication towards ending GBV in the country.
She noted that a good number of initiatives had been launched to curb the vice, seeing a good number of victims reporting the vice to the police.
“Government and other stakeholders have conducted a lot of GBV sensitisation programmes and women have been encouraged to step forward and report the vice. Because of this, we expect GBV cases to go down this year,” she said.
She however reiterated the need for the society to work hand in hand with police and other stakeholders in making sure that the vice was completely wiped out in the country.
