Agro inputs delivered countrywide
ALL the 115 districts have received this year’s farming inputs, Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo has said.
Mr Katambo said Government has manage to deliver the input to all the one million beneficiaries of the farming input across the country
The minister was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation.
He said the distribution of inputs had worked well whether through direct supply or by way of the E-Voucher System.
“All the 115 districts in the country have received the farming input and distribution to the 1 million beneficiaries is progressing well, whether in the direct input supply or the E-Voucher System,” he said.
Last month, some farmers had expressed concern about the late distribution of inputs and feared that they could record poor yields.
Those who raised complaints included Chief Chanje area in Chipangali where all the 32 cooperatives had not received the inputs for the 2018/2019 farming season.
But Mr Katambo said Government has delivered inputs and that beneficiaries should start accessing them.
The minister said Government was cognisant of the fact that early distribution of inputs was important for farmers and the country at large.
Agriculture, he said, was a priority sector of the economy which had been placed at the centre of the economic diversification programme.
