I’ll only relinquish Roan if I’m rejected - Kambwili
I WILL only step down when Roan constituency electorates reject me, National Democratic Congress Party (NDC) consultant Chishimba Kambwili has said.
But Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Executive Director Andrew Nthewewe has challenged Mr Kambwili to explain why he is resisting to relinquish his seat when he claims of running a political party. Mr Kambwili in an interview yesterday said he was ready to step down once the people of Roan constituency rejected him. He said only the people in Roan constituency in Luanshya had the power to end his mandate as a Member of
Parliament.
“People of Roan constituency have power to reject me if they feel so. I am ready to step down if they wish to do that,” Mr
Kambwili said.
Mr Nthewewe on the other hand advised Mr Kambwili to consider morality in leadership instead of being irresponsible.
He said Mr Kambwili’s principles clearly showed that he was not a leader who could be trusted. Mr Nthewewe said Mr Kambwili must immediately relinquish his position to pave way for the by-election so that he could re-contest the seat as an Independent or on NDC ticket.
“It does not make sense the way Mr Kambwili has been behaving lately. Today he says he is PF MP, tomorrow he says he is NDC. If he is brave as he claims, let him step down right now and pave way the by-election.
“If he wants he can stand as an independent or on NDC ticket. He should show us that he is a brave man as he claims,” Mr Nthewewe said.
