Mkushi MP becomes district PF boss
MKUSHI North Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Doreen Mwape has scooped the position of Mkushi district Patriotic Front (PF) chairwoman.
Ms Mwape scooped the position during PF intraparty elections at constituency and district levels held at the council chamber .
Ms Mwape amassed 131 votes to beat former district chairwoman Regina Sobongo who got 122 votes.
The Mkushi North Constituency will be led by chairman Emmanuel Sinkonde who went through unopposed together with his vice Mutale Musonda.
At district level, all contenders went through unopposed.
And speaking after results, elections commissioner Yamfwa Mukanga, who is also PF elections chairman appealed to elected leaders to be humble and work for the people who had put them into office.
Mr Mukanga said the PF was a pro-poor party and not for one person but for the people, hence the need to work together with people.
He said leadership was about listening and not talking too much because too much talking would spoil the party.
Mr Mukanga urged elected leaders as well as the general membership to embrace one another.
He implored the membership to do away with selfishness and personal vendettas so as to win elections.
“Let’s work together with the local MP, councillors, district, and provincial leadership. Let's show love to the people who have voted for you and listen to their plight." Mr Mukanga said.
He also urged the elected leaders to visit people at the grassroots and be good to them for development.
