“He should have been bold enough to leave PF on his own before accepting to become NDC consultant”

- By SILUMESI MALUMO and MUKOSELA KASALWE

CHISHIMBA Kambwili should have been bold enough to leave the Patriotic Front (PF) on his own before accepting being a consultant for NDC, party secretary general Mwenya Musenge has said.

And a cross section of Zambians have toasted the decision by Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Matibini to kick out Mr Kambwili from Parliament, saying that he was on firm ground.

Mr Musenge reiterated that Mr Kambwili should have thought through his decisions from the onset.

He said Dr Matibini was on firm ground to declare the seat vacant as it was in line with the Constitution.

“Kambwili shouldn’t even have waited for Parliament to decide his fate,” he said. Mr Musenge said that Mr Kambwili must blame himself because he caused all the atrocities in his political career.

And Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) leader Wright Musoma said the move to declare the Roan seat vacant was long overdue as Mr Kambwili was in Parliament session illegally.

Mr Musoma said Mr Kambwili could not hold on to his parliamentary seat when he crossed to another political party.

Third Liberation Movement (3rdLM) president, Enock Tonga said the declaration of the Roan seat vacant was a welcome move.

Mr Tonga said Mr Kambwili had clearly associated himself with the opposition) hence his annulling of his seat.

Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili said he would not fight the declaration of his seat as vacant but vowed to meet the PF on the political battlefield.

The former Roan MP accused State House and Mr Musenge of having been tasked by the PF to have his seat declared vacant because he was expelled by the ruling party.

The declaration of the Roan seat as vacant by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Matibini, followed a point of order by Malambo Member of Parliament Makebi Zulu.

Delivering a ruling on the point or order, Dr Matibini ruled that Mr Kambwili crossed the floor the moment he accepted a senior position in the opposition NDC.

Dr Matibini said through that action Mr Kambwili not only became an office bearer but also a member of the NDC the moment he accepted a position in the party.

In his ruling Dr Matibini relied on some of the utterances by Mr Kambwili where he confirmed his membership and also leadership of the NDC.
