LUSAMBO WARNS EVELYN HONE DRUGS ABUSERS

- By KALOBWE BWALYA

IT’Sdisappointing that some students from Evelyn Hone College are involved in drug abuse, Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo has observed.

Mr Lusambo warned that any student found using drugs as well as smoking cannabis at any institution would face the full wrath of the law.

He said he would not allow such a situation to continue adding that he would ensure that culprits were brought to book. Mr Lusambo said learning institutions such as Evelyn Honea among other institutions were not meant for consuming drugs, but for education purposes.

The minister said this when he toured the school following reports that some students were planning to riot over alleged hiked school fees. He has since directed student union president Bruno Sitanzyo to submit names of students who were involved in drugs for further action from the agencies. He further warned that Government will not keep such characters in schools but to be expelled and handed over to agencies in charge of drug abuse.

“I will not allow students from this public institution to be consuming drugs, therefore watch dogs will soon be brought here so that culprits are brought to book and I will ensure that they face full wrath of the law as drugs are not good at all and anyone found wanting will be fished out,” said Mr Lusambo.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lusambo said he will engage the Lusaka City council (LCC) and see where the car dealers can be relocated rather than conducting their business outside the Evelyn Hone College.

Mr Lusambo said it was not in order to allow such business as to operate within learning institutions.

“We are going to remove them, I told them earlier because it is very easy for them to start flirting with female students and that will affect their studies,” said Mr Lusambo.
