SWITZERLAND TOPS EXPORT MARKETS FOR ZAMBIA
SWITZERLAND provided the largest market for Zambia’s total exports in January 2019, the Central Statistical Office (CSO) has said.
CSO Acting Director of Census and Statistics, Iven Sikanyiti, said Switzerland accounted for 41.6 percent of Zambia’s exports.
Mr Sikanyiti said Asia was the second largest market for Zambia’s total exports, accounting for 35.6 percent last month.
He said within this grouping, China was the dominant market with 60.6 percent.
Other notable markets in the grouping were Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and Japan.
Mr Sikanyiti said this in Lusaka when he presented the CSO monthly bulletin for February.
“The dual- SADC and COMESA grouping was the third largest market for Zambia’s total exports, accounting for 11.3 percent in January 2019.
“Within this grouping, Congo DR was the dominant export market, accounting for 81.9 percent. Other notable markets in this grouping were Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mauritius and Madagascar,” he said.
