Nkana defeat

-

Dear Editor,

GONE are the days of legendary local soccer teams especially the local league in which we used to enjoy the game.

But it is sad that sides from the strong l local leagues are suffering defeats.

The latest is that of Nkana who were taught a footballing lesson at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as the 12- time Zambian league champions lost 0-3 to Asante Kotoko in a group C match day four CAF Confederation Cup fixture.

Added to this misery were Zesco who were butchered 3 - 1 by the Sudanese giants Al-Hilal in Sudan.

Nkana goalkeeper Allan Chibwe was a let- down, making misjudgements leading to Nkana conceding three goals in a space of 27 minutes.

This forced coach Beston Chambeshi to substitute Chibwe for Malunga as the former could not contain the pressure.

Nkana played badly in the opening half, it was as though Chambeshi had travelled with a different side from the one that beat Kotoko 3-1 a week ago in Kitwe.

The visitors were beaten in the midfield with strikers Emmanuel Gyamfi and Yacouba Songne creating several set-pieces.

We need to be serious on the local soccer scene to up our game. EDWARD ZULU, Lusaka.
