‘KALABA CAUSING CONFUSION IN MILAMBO CHIEFDOM’

- By MUKOSELA KASALWE

FORMER Bahati lawmaker Harry Kalaba is defying a court order and causing confusion in the chiefdom by supporting a woman masquerading as Chieftainess Milambo, says Milambo Royal Establishment chairman Lewis Chela.

Mr Chela said it was suspicious that Mr Kalaba had involved himself in a critical issue to the extent of defying a court order.

He said Mr Kalaba was fully aware of the status of the chieftaincy in the area as established and confirmed by the injunction, court order and ruling of the court dated October 5, 2016 which states that Mannix Kasepa must be maintained as the duly elected Senior chief Milambo until the matter was finally determined.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Chela who is the nephew of Senior Chief Kasepa said it was unfortunate that Mr Kalaba was shown on a named television station with a certain woman whom he pronounced as Senior Chieftainess Milambo.

“The statement is not only true, but misleading, null and void because the traditional leadership was ignorant about the coming of Mr Kalaba and were not even contacted to have audience with him,” Mr Chela said.

He said as of today the Milambo Royal Establishment understands that Mr Kasepa has to be regarded as the current Senior Chief Milambo in the chiefdom. Mr Chela prodded Mr Kalaba not to drag the Royal Establishment into partisan and politics because chieftaincy was not a political platform for gaining political mileage.

He said Mr Kalaba should leave the royal establishment to conduct its affairs and be allowed to work with the Government of the day.

Mr Chela said Chief Kasepa had not fully recovered from the bullets wounds sustained after being shot at the palace.

He said Mr Kalaba had provoked the royal family and well-meaning subjects not only in Milambo area but the entire Ushi chiefdom. Mr Chela said it was difficult to trust such leaders as Mr Kalaba to hold public offices again.
