TALENT for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is among the core elements of a digital economy.

This is according to training and certification manager, Huawei ICT Competition 2018- 2019 Zambia, Ren Fuhong.

Mr Fuhong said ICT talent and Professionals development were the foundation and core elements of ICT development and digital economy.

He said it was for this reason

Huawei had partnered with educational institutions and industry associations among others to train ICT talents across the world.

“In Zambia, so far, we have 12 universities who are our ICT Academy. We Team up with education institutions, industry associations, and partners to build an enablement platform for Zambian ICT talent.

“This imparts Huawei ICT technology and product knowledge to university students around Zambia, encourages to become Huawei- certified and cultivates ICT talent for local industry chains, “said Mr Fuhong.

Mr Fuhong said to work more closely with universities and build an international platform for ICT talent exchange, the company held Huawei ICT competition for university students.

Last year, he said, this event brought together 40,000 participants from 800 universities in 32 countries.

“Huawei ICT competition 2018 is in progress, we estimate that the ongoing event will bring 80000+ participants form 1600+universitises in 50 countries in ICT competition 2018.

In Zambia, more than 700 students from more than 15 universities around Zambia participated this competition.
