Youths advised on making right choices
YOUTHS should be very cautious of the choices they make today because they have a bearing on their future, says Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga.
Mr Mushanga said youths should endeavour to make right choices because their adulthood would be determined by the choices they make today.
He was speaking to the media shortly after the wreaths laying ceremony at the cenotaph at the civic centre in Kabwe to commemorate Youth Day dubbed "Zambian Youth: Generation Unlimited".
Mr Mushanga urged the youths to emulate the determination, zeal, discipline and unlimited thinking of youths would died during the independence struggle of the country.
“The youths we are remembering today who took part in the independence struggle were very determined and disciplined," said Mr Mushanga.
And Mr Mushanga has urged youths to shun political violence and focus their energies on doing positive things that would benefit themselves and the country as a whole.
Mr Mushanga said he had never seen adults or children of senior politicians perpetuating violence but it’s the young people coming from very vulnerable backgrounds who were in the forefront.
Speaking earlier, Zambia Correctional Service assistant regional chaplain, Reuben Banda said Zambia needed youths who had good leadership good qualities.
Reverend Banda therefore urged the youths to endeavour to measure themselves in accordance to qualities of a good leader which are courage, sound character and self-oriented, among others.
"If your actions inspire others to dream and learn more then you are a leader," said Rev. Banda.
