I am still NDC boss - Musenge

..maintains meeting that imposed Kambwili as president did not have his blessing

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

I AM still the National Democratic Congress boss because the committee which imposed Chishimba Kambwili as president was illegal, party secretary general Mwenya Musenge has charged.

Mr Musenge told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday, the meeting which was convened by the interim committee to impose Mr Kambwili as party president did not have his blessings. He said whatever is done without his consent was null and void and that Mr Kambwili was still not a member of the party. Mr Musenge said the former Roan Member of Parliament should stop masquerading as a member and party president. He said that he had written to the Registrar of Society to give guidance on the matter at hand, saying that he would make a conclusive decision after a ruling. Mr Musenge said he would not waste time working with selfish individuals, adding that he would chuck out some members that were bringing confusion in the party. Mr Musenge said he cannot give the presidency to Mr Kambwili who he said was arrogant, and would destroy the party. “Mr Kambwili cannot be a party president, I cannot support arrogant people. How can the country be if people like Kambwili are given the instruments of power. Seriously I cannot work with such selfish individuals,” Mr Musenge said. Mr Musenge said Mr Kambwili was day dreaming by claiming he was the founder of the opposition NDC. He disclosed that he was the one who processed all documentation for the formation of NDC and warned Mr Kambwili and his colleagues that their days were numbered as he would deal with them when the Registrar of Society ruled over the matter. “I want to categorically state that I am the owner of the NDC and there was no single person who worked with me to form this party. I did all the documents, I wrote the constitution of this party. So I cannot allow people who didn’t sweat for this party to claim that it is them who formed it,” he said.
