UNIP to scoop 2021 elections – SG

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

WE are confident of bouncing back into power in 2021 because we have made enough strides to attract many Zambians through our progressive policies, United National Independent Party (UNIP) secretary-general, Alfred Banda, has said. Rev. Banda said the pro-development policies that the party had adopted would help improve the country’s welfare and that of its citizens. He told the Daily Nation yesterday, the party was confident that it was about time to come back in power and improve the economic status of the country. He said the members had confident in Mr Tilyenji Kaunda’s leadership and policies because they could develop the nation. Rev. Banda said that the party had gone flat out to explain its policies to Zambians and people had begun embracing them. He said the Zambians were no longer interested in politicians whose policies were centred on petty issues rather than telling the nation what they would do. Rev. Banda said the desire by the party leadership was to inform the nation what it had laid down which would be implemented once it formed government in 2021. “Currently we have embarked on countrywide tours to explain to the people what we will do. We want the people to know our policies and assure them of a better Zambia when we are voted into power,” he said. Rev Banda also confirmed that the former ruling party had embarked on the card renewal exercise in order to grow the party.
