Mwanza ticks off UPND 2021 claims

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

THE country’s economy would collapse if UPND was given to govern because it has no economic plan, Patriotic Front (PF) deputy media director Antonio Mwanza has said.

Mr Mwanza told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday, UPND would plunge the nation into a mess if it formed government because its leadership had nothing to offer.

He said the opposition political party had a self- centred leadership.

He was reacting to UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s claims that the party would win 2021 general elections because Zambians were not happy with the way the PF was governing the country. But Mr Mwanza said it was unfortunate that Mr Hichilema was day dreaming.

He said that it was prudent for the opposition leader to accept that he cannot win an election anytime soon because he had plans that cannot convince Zambians.

Mr Mwanza reminded Mr Hichilema that UPND had lost a number of seats in its stronghold because Zambians had lost hope in its leadership. He said that PF had continue rolling out development which had made it to be a popular party.

“I want to remind HH that he has lost a number of seats in the strongholds because his party has lost popularity and this is the fact. He would not say anything if you were to ask him to show us what he has to offer,” he said.

“Mr Hichilema and the entire UPND leadership have no economic plans and if Zambians give them a mandate to govern”, they would put this country in mess,” Mr Mwanza said.

Mr Mwanza noted that Government had made strides to improve welfare of the country as well as the welfare of the nation.

And Mr Mwanza said “President Edgar Lungu really want to change the welfare of this country.

He said that slashing of user fees in tertiary institutions was a clear testimony of the good leadership was President Lungu had exhibited.
