Sinazongwe UPND officials, Bbabi clash

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

CRACKS have emerged in the UPND in Sinazongwe as a war of words has ensued between the district chairperson Stambridge Sikalola and his spokesperson, George Bbabbi, who has described his boss as a failure. Mr. Bbabi yesterday told the Daily Nation that Mr. Sikalola and other disgruntled individuals had waged a war against him for merely pointing out shortcomings of the leadership. He said instead of admitting their shortcomings and correcting them, Mr. Sikalola had resorted to name-calling by branding him a traitor. But he said he would not be intimidated by people who were using party positions to frustrate him. “There are disgruntled hired elements bent to destroying the name of the UPND in Sinazongwe and are fighting me but I want it to make it clear that the officials that are fighting me will not find it easy in their push to tarnish my good name. I have been a clean politician throughout my political life. “What has unsettled them is the relationship I have with the media and each time I talk to the media about the challenges people in Sinazongwe are going through and appeal to Government, they feel bad. When I point out the wrong things happening in the party, they get offended. Mr. Sikalola and the district treasurer they are fighting me,” Mr. Bbabbi said. He said due to the lacklustre attitude that the duo had, they would never retain their positions because they have lost touch with the grassroots as they were only wasting their energy fighting perceived enemies in the party.
