Inyati Roads (Z) dispels closure rumours

- By MUKOSELA KASALWE

OUR operations in Zambia are sustainable and reports suggesting otherwise should be disregarded with outmost contempt, Inyatsi Roads Zambia Limited has said.

In an interview yesterday, Inyatsi head of business, Jeff Chama, said the company comprised patriotic people with a zeal to add value to the country’s infrastructure sector.

He reaffirmed that the company, which is wholly owned by Zambians, was still actively engaged with the Zambian government on projects such as the Solwezi-Mwinilunga Road and the private sector on the several new shopping malls. “Despite having subsidiary operations in Swaziland, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa, Inyatsi is fully committed to its Zambian operations and anything suggesting otherwise is not true.

“We continue working closely with Government and the private sector in Zambia to ensure that we effectively contribute to infrastructure development,” Mr Chama said.

Mr Chama said the company had also continued engaging with Government to address the challenges around project financing to ensure that service delivery was not delayed.

He assured of the company’s efficient and timely service delivery. Mr Chama said the firm had undertaken a successful periodic maintenance of the Turnpike-Mazabuka Road, and was performing up to the client’s expectations on lots one and two of the Solwezi-Mwinilunga Road.

Meanwhile, former Inyatsi Zambia, Turnpike-Mazabuka Road site manager Martin Abdul has refuted an online report associating him with remarks that Inyatsi was on the verge of closure due to unpaid contract dues by the Government. Mr Abdul said in a separate interview that the information was irregular as there was no way he could speak about Inyati’s current status when he left the company two months ago.
