Northwest MPs’ absence worries PF

- By JACKSON MAPAPAYI

THE Patriotic Front in North Western Province is concerned with the lack of effective representation in constituencies in the province. PF provincial chairperson, Jackson Kungo, said PF has low representation at in North west constituency. He said the Government was committed to the welfare of the people and wanted MPs to interact with them regularly. Mr Kungo was speaking when he called on chief Ingwe of the Kaonde speaking people of Kasempa yesterday. "This isn't the case with the opposition Members or Parliament here in North-Western Province," he lamented. He said due to lack of representation, the voice of the people was not heard which was a cause for concern to the residents of the province. He assured the chief and his subjects that the PF provincial leadership had taken up the role to represent the people and would do so effectively. And Mr Kungo said the construction of classroom blocks at three schools in the chiefdom and electrification of the palace were some of the commitments that the PF government has fulfilled. He implored the community to appreciate Government's move to reduce school fees to allow every child to attain education. Mr Kungo also took time to caution Parents Teachers Association in schools not to introduce unnecessary fees to put back the burden on parents which Government had removed. "We will not allow a situation where school management will start increasing school fees beyond what government has set," he warned. Meanwhile, Mr Kungo has promised to have all police houses at Kankolokolo rehabilitated so that police officers can occupy them. He said security and peace were cardinal to the well-being of the community and promised to paint and fix window panes on all houses to make them conducive for occupation. And speaking through his secretary for the Royal establishment, Chief Ingwe thanked the provincial Chairman and his team for the visit to his chiefdom and his kind gesture of rehabilitating the police station. The traditional ruler pledged to continue working and supporting the Government of the day.
