60 UPND members in Kasempa join PF

- By JACKSON MAPAPAYI

OVER 60 members of the United Party for National Development (UPND) in Kasempa district have ditched the opposition party to join the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).

The defectors include, from Ingwe ward, include all ward executive committee members.

Ingwe ward chairman, Robson Kyalata, said they have decided to join the PF because the opposition UPND has nothing to offer. He said he and other members could not continue living on promissory notes year-in-year- out without anything tangible materialising.

Mr Kyalata regretted the many years he and other members had wasted in opposition party.

‘’And today we have decided to join our colleagues in the ruling party. We don’t want to continue with the opposition which has nothing to offer,’’ he said.

Receiving the defectors, PF North western provincial chairperson, Jackson Kungo, told the new members to feel at home.

He said the PF believed that both the old and new members were the same and should work together to meet the expectations of the people.

‘’What is important is having respect for one another, so, I am appealing to both the new and old members to work together in growing the party,’’ he said.

Mr Kungo said for the party to grow, there was need to recruit more members ahead of the 2021.

"President Lungu has given a directive to recruit more members into the party.

It is therefore incumbent upon all of us to ensure that we recruit more members ahead of 2021," he said.

What is important is having respect for one another, so, I am appealing to both the new and old members to work together in growing the party,’’ — Mr Kyalata.
