Kapijimpanga salutes Kansanshi
CHIEF Kapijimpanga of Solwezi has commended Kansanshi Mine for providing social services to communities in the firm`s catchment araea.
The Chief has also praised Government for creating an enabling environment for business to flourish. As a result, he said, business houses were able to plough back to their communities. The traditional leader said the provision of a good business environment had made companies such as Kansanshi Mine to plough back to the people in the catchment area. He was speaking during the hand-over of 12 boreholes at Kijilamatambwe Primary School provided by Kansanshi mine at a cost of K734,000. Chief Kapijimpanga said the firm had been involved in various Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes since its inception in the district. “For this and many other projects, as a Royal Establishment, we say thank for ploughing back to the communities you are operating in,’’ the traditional leader said. He thanked the mining firm for its continued support to the communities and encouraged the firm to continue doing so. The traditional leader also assured Government and the mining company that the communities where the boreholes had been sunk would take care of the facilities. He however urged both government and the mining company to be engaging the community in the planning, execution and monitoring of the projects. And North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, Willies Mangimela, said the mining firm had for long time been a reliable partner in improving the lives of the people. Mr Mangimela said that access to safe clean drinking water was not only a basic need but also a necessity to sustain life . He called on the beneficiaries of the 12 boreholes to safeguard them and encouraged the community to set up a committee to look into the running of the boreholes.
