Huawei means well, Chinese envoy assures Zambia
IGNORE the so-called big economy country degrading Huawei alleging that it was a danger to national security because it will enhance technology in Zambia, the Chinese government has advised.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie said it was unfortunate that some countries could utter false statements that the Huawei products were harmful.
He said it was wrong for to allege that the products were a danger to national security, stating that this had potential to have an effect on the market.
American President Donald Trump and his administration banned Huawei insisting that it was a danger to national security.
But Google warned the Trump administration that it risked compromising U.S. national security if it goes ahead with export restrictions on Huawei, and asked to be exempted from any ban.
Senior officials at the U.S.- based tech giant have warned it would not be able to update its Android operating system on Huawei’s smartphones, prompting the Chinese company to develop its own version of the software.
A Huawei-modified version of Android, Google argued, could then be more vulnerable to hacking risks.
And Mr Jie advised Zambian people to ignore such allegations as the use of the product would enhance technology in the country.
He said Huawei cannot manufacture products that could endanger the national security of other countries.
Mr Jie said the implementation of Huawei products in Zambia would enable the progressive utilisation of satellite television.
“I believe our friends have already learnt about the situation of Huawei.
It is a leading company in China and the technological innovation in the world.
“Huawei is also making progress in scientific development and utilisation of 5 G technology. Huawei is going through difficulties as certain people or should I say a certain country is alleging that Huawei products are a threat to their nation security. I can say that this is shocking but I urge Zambians to use products for betterment of the country,” Mr Jie said.
