UPND lawyers dumped me, says freed GBM
I am not worried about what they have done, what is important is the outcome of this court ruling but I think I have learnt my lessons”,— Geoffrey Mwamba
I AM disappointed with UPND lawyers for abandoning me after I changed camp, says former party vice president Geoffrey Mwamba following his acquittal yesterday in a case he was charged for proposing violence on President Lungu. Mr. Mwamba was initially represented by lawyers Keith Mweemba, Jack Mwiimbu, Martha Mushipe, and Gilbert Phiri but out of the four, only Mr. Mweemba was at court when the case was on. Speaking to journalists yesterday after Lusaka Magistrate Nthandose Chabala found him with no case to answer in the matter, Mr. Mwamba said the lawyers dumped him after his exit from UPND instigated by party president Hakainde Hichilema “I am disappointed with the UPND lawyers, they really abandoned me because I changed camp not because of my own making but because of their so called president HH’s making. He hounded me out of the party using his 75 inept NMC (national management committee) members… “I am not worried about what they have done, what is important is the outcome of this court ruling but I think I have learnt my lessons and I want to tell all Zambians: that is UPND for you and everyone should learn,” Mr. Mwamba said.. He commended Magistrate Chabala for the professional and fair manner in which she handled the matter. In her ruling earlier, Ms. Chabala said the State failed to provide enough evidence to warrant putting Mr. Mwamba on his defence.
