Malanji canes heartless liars

- By NATION REPORTER

IT is utter nonsense and cheap political lies for an opposition leader to promise to resolve land issues in Mwaiseni Township says Patriotic Front Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji. The same leader was on record to have evicted people from a piece of land for it to be used as grazing land for his cattle.

Mr Malanji, who is Minister of Foreign Affairs, said opposition leaders who had been campaigning on the platform of resolving land issues in Mwaiseni in Lubwa Ward in Kwacha Constituency

were merely waffling and had no ability to resolve the issue.

He was speaking at the weekend at Mwaiseni Grounds during a campaign rally to drum up support for PF candidate Julius Kaunda ahead of the Lubwa local government by-election set for tomorrow.

Mr Malanji said it was surprising that opposition leaders who claim to have a lot of money and interest in serving the poor had

continued to exhibit a stingy, greedy and selfish character.

“People who have money and have interest to serve the poverty-stricken or poor people do not wait to become republican presidents to help. They just embark on projects which will alleviate the sufferings of the poor,” he said.

“You can’t boast about being rich when you have failed even

to put up a toilet where you come from. Apart from failing to put up a toilet where you come from, you are also on record to have evicted people from a piece of land so that it can be used as

grazing land for your cattle,’’ Mr Malanji said.

He urged the people of Mwaiseni and Lubwa Ward to ignore the rantings of the opposition leader and vote for the PF candidate because he was set to deliver on his campaign promises and would collaborate well with him.

Mr Malanji said the PF would always strive to fulfill its

campaign promises despite the opposition leaders exhibiting

their anger, frustration, bitterness and hatred reflected by their

tantrums.

He said K350, 000 had been set aside for the payment of school fees for orphans and vulnerable children in the area to cushion their problems.

“You, the people of Mwaiseni Township, you are my friends

and you know how we live. So, don’t listen to those people when they are waffling. Some of them, the wounds of defeat in

the 2016 elections have not healed, while others they just talk anyhow.

“Let us continue to work together to roll out various development projects. I am asking you to come up with a list of vulnerable children so that we can start paying school fees for them. We have about K350,000 for the payment of school fees

for orphans and vulnerable children in the area,’’ he said.

PF Lubwa Ward by-election candidate Julius Kaunda promised to work with women and youths to promote entrepreneurship and small businesses so that they could be self-sustaining.

Mr Kaunda also promised to put up a skills training centre in Mwaiseni so that youths could be kept away from abusing alcohol.

“As a resident of Lubwa Ward, I know the challenges and problems in the area, especially those affecting the youths. This is why if you elect me on July 30, 2019, I will work with you to empower marketeers, youths and women in boosting their

businesses,’’ Mr Kaunda said.
