‘MAKE MONTHLY CLEANING INITIATIVE A SUCCESS’

PRIVATE sector stakeholde­rs and citizens should put efforts together to make the Make Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign a success, Lusaka City Council public health Inspector Grace Mwanza has said.

Ms Mwanza advised citizens to take interest in the campaign as it was for the benefit of everyone.

Ms Mwanza said sensitisat­ion through different media streams would help citizens know and appreciate the importance of the exercise.

She was speaking during the monthly cleaning of the keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign exercise in Ngombe on Saturday.

And former Lusaka deputy mayor Chilando Chitangala who is also Roma ward 17 councillor reminded citizens to actively participat­e in the campaign as it was an effective too to fight water borne diseases such as cholera.

Ms Chitangala said the campaign which was launched by President Edgar Lungu for every last Saturday of the month should encourage everyone to together to do the cleaning exercise.

Ms Chitangala said it was also important that citizens and members of various townships complied with the exercise to avoid water borne diseases.

“People can take this opportunit­y to effectivel­y take part in the Ubusaka campaign started by Lusaka mayor Miles Sampa to keep their home environmen­ts and the city clean,” said Ms Chitangala.

Meanwhile, Ngwerere ward 19 Councillor Adrian Banda said the exercise was a success in his ward as most youths, women and men have been taking part.

He is impressed that shop owners keep their shops and businesses closed in order to participat­e in the exercise.
