Health minister deserves re-adoption for 2021

- ELEMIYA PHIRI, Lusaka.

Dear editor, MINISTER of ealth and ansa entral onstituen y ember of arliament r hitalu hilufya is one of the hard or ing inisters ho deser e to be readopted in the general ele tions r hilufya arries out his ministerial duties diligently and finds time to isit his onstituen y

Mansa Central has witnessed tremendous development. Health posts, roads and schools have been constructed from the time Dr Chilufya was elected as area MP. He has initiated a number of economic empowerment programmes targeting women, youths and other vulnerable people. At the Ministry of Health, he is working with technocrats and partners like Global Fund, United States Agency for International Development and World Health Organisation, among others to ensure that people across the country access health services. Being a seasoned medical practitioner, Dr Chilufya is well vested with health issues. This has enabled him score a number of successes in the health sector. These include scaling down of HIV/AIDS infection, decline in maternal deaths, adherence in taking Anti Retro viral Therapy and the drop in malaria infection, among others. However, Dr Chilufya is a tested leader whose works speak volumes about him; he has delivered development in his constituency and at the same time, he has scored success in the Ministry of Health. This can be attested by a number of reforms that have been put in place and people are able to see. President Lungu has on several occasions sounded the warning that the non performing Ministers would be fired and they will not be adopted in the 2021 general elections. This is because they have lamentably failed the people of Zambia particularly the electorate. Furthermore, they have proved to incompetent to hold public office. n conclusion, onourable Chilufya deserves to be readopted in 2021 polls because he is hard working. In another vein, I implore other Cabinet Ministers who are not performing to emulate Honourable Chilufya’s work culture.
