MINISTER MUST CALL FAZ ‘INDABA’

- By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA

THE new minister of Sport should quickly call for an “indaba” to end the bickering at Football House because FAZ is becoming an embarrassment to football administration, says former executive committee member Keagan Chipango.

Chipango said the recent confusion in the FAZ executive committee over the lost computer server was an indication that things were not fine at ootball House.

He said the continued divisions in FAZ had played a part in the underperformance of teams in competitions.

He called on the minister Emmanuel Mulenga to immediately intervene before extreme damage is done to the “beautiful” game.

“The minister should heed President dgar Lungu s directive to put ootball House in order. He should quickly intervene by calling for a round table meeting. The more it’s delayed, the more damage is being caused and will be difficult to recover from,” hipango said.

He said councillors were slowly losing confidence in the Z administration because it lacked direction.

Chipango said it was sad that football administrators kept reporting themselves toWorld governing body on matters that could be solved internally.

“It is always us writing to FIFA, this shows that people have no confidence in the internal bodies set up to look at complaints,” he said.

Chipango called on the executive committee to allow its member lijah ‘Shenko’ Chileshe to exculpate himself before the ouncil.

He said the councillors had the right to know the truth because they hold the voting right.

“I cannot say Chileshe was wrong to report the theft to investigative wings nor is the general secretary Adrian Kashala off-side. But taking Chileshe to the disciplinary committee will not be the right thing to do as the judgement can be biased,”

“The right thing to do is call for an extra-ordinary meeting and allow him to exculpate himself. Then the councillors will decide, they are the ones who put the executive into power and should be respected,” he said.

Chileshe reported the theft of a server to FIFA and the Zambian investigative wings.

But Kashala said the matter was dealt with and it was still under investigation.

Chileshe is expected to appear before the FAZ disciplinary committee for bringing the name of the association into disrupt.
