MUYOMBE WATER PROJECT ELATES COUNCILLOR
THE water reticulation project at Muyombe Boarding Secondary School in Mafinga at the cost of over K70,000 is progressing well, Kalanga Ward councillor Samson Kafunda has said.
Mr Kafunda said in an interview the project, which includes drilling of an industrial borehole, erection of tanks and laying of water pipes, would mitigate the shortage of water the school has been experiencing.
He said the project would also include connecting the teachers’ compound to piped water.
“The school was constructed by a Chinese contractor, but the problem was he handed over without without finishing water related works as a result the school was facing alot of challenges,”Mr Kafunda said.
Mr Kafunda said government through the 2018 Constituency development funds released K70,410 for
water reticulation at the schoo.
He said the contractor engaged to work on the project is already onsite and that the works are likely to be completed in the next two weeks.
Mr Kafunda said the contractor will do among other works installation of water pumps, laying of pipes, erection of taps and connection of teachers compound.
He said the contractor would also connect water to the ablution blocks and the boys and girls’ dormitory.
“This project will enable both teachers and learners at Muyombe Boarding School to access clean and safe water without difficulties, creating a good and learning environment children,” he said.
Mr Kafunda said connecting the school to piped water would prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases and improve sanitation.

The construction the two classrooms at Masangani was almost complete while the contractor engaged to build three classrooms at Gwembe Community School had already moved onto the site in readiness for the beginning of the construction works.
Mr Kafunda thanked Government for the massive infrastructure development the area had continued to record under the Patriotic Front.
He cited the construction of the state-of-art Muyombe Hospital currently at 98 percent completion and the ongoing construction of a police station, among others.
