C/b PF courts opposition

- By ROGERS KALERO

OPPOSITION party members must swallow their pride and join the Patriotic Front (PF) because it has clear agenda of developing Zambia through road rehabilitation in various parts of the country,'' Chimwemwe Constituency PF vice-treasurer Allen Banda has said.

Mr Banda said instead of wasting time in political parties with no clear agendas, opposition members should join the PF and be part of the development agenda through road rehabilitation works taking place, including places where people voted for the opposition.

In an interview in Kitwe yesterday Mr Banda said the PF would not waste time on worthless tantrums from disgruntled politicians who were driven by hatred because its task was to deliver campaign promises as evidenced by the major road rehabilitation works being carried out.

"The road rehabilitation works are setting the stage for economic recovery and national development. With a good road infrastructure it is easy to open up new areas and sectors like agriculture will be developed,” Mr Banda said.

"So no doubt about it, as PF, we are on course. This is why opposition members must swallow their pride and join the PF because the ruling party has clearly set its agenda of developing Zambia through road rehabilitation works in various parts of the country.”

And Chibote Ward councilor Cephas Mulenga has said the major road rehabilitation works being carried out in his ward and Wusakile Constituency in general was an indication that the ruling party was more interested in delivering its campaign promises than responding to worthless tantrums.

In an interview in Kitwe yesterday Mr Mulenga said the two major roads which were being rehabilitated in his ward would give a facelift to the area where roads had been in bad state.

He said the major roads being rehabilitated in Chibote Ward were Musuku, which ran from Randers Place passing through Amstrong, Miseshi Primary School to the Venue bar joining Nakambala road in Kamfinsa Constituency.

The other was Parliament road which started from the Catholic Church passing through E-section up to Wusakile Local Court.

Mr Mulenga said the road rehabilitation works being carried out would give a face-lift to Chibote Ward and Wusakile constituency in general.

''Our role as the ruling party is to deliver on campaign promises and I think road rehabilitation is one of promises we made to the people. Road rehabilitation is a responsibility of every responsible government.

''So, we will not waste time on worthless tantrums from disgruntled politicians who are driven by hatred because they are time wasters who want to gain mileage through insulting others,'' Mr Mulenga said.

Mr Mulenga said supporters of opposition parties should abandon their parties and join the ruling PF because it was the only party with a mature, objective and humble leadership.
