Kabwe councillor gets vote of no confidence
RESIDENTS of Kabwe’s David Ramusho ward have accused their councillor Patrick Mumba of working in isolation prompting them to give him a vote of no confidence.
And Mr Mumba has also accused the residents of frustrating the developmental programmes implemented in the area through his office.
The residents alleged that the councillor had not been engaging the community in all the activities taking place in the area.
This came to light when Patriotic Front Central Province chairperson, Chanda Mutale held a meeting with the ward, branch committee and the community over the land impasse that has engulfed Makandanyama area.
Ms Hildah Phiri said as residents they did not recognise the area councillor because of his failure to work to with the community.
“The councillor wants to work alone, we don’t want him. As Makandanyama residents we don’t have a councillor,” said Ms Phiri.
But area councillor, Patrick Mumba accused the ward, branch committees and Makandanyama residents of frustrating his efforts aimed at bringing development to the ward.
Mr Mumba explained that he was almost attacked by Makandanyama residents when he with help of ward development committee members embarked on a developmental project involving construction of a toilet at the newly constructed clinic by Discover-Health and partners.
He said the project had been stopped by some ward and branch officials and the community accusing him of mismanaging the money that was given by the area Member of Parliament (MP), Tutwa Ngulube towards the construction of the toilet at the clinic.
Mr Mutale said it was sad that the ward, branch committee and the community stopped a very important project of constructing a toilet at the clinic for it to start operating, a move which also saddened the area MP.
Speaking earlier, area MP Tutwa Ngulube urged the residents to work together and ensure that the toilet at the clinic was completed so that health facility could become operational.
